Mexican Swine Flu Virus

The Mexican Swine influenza virus H1N1 which originated in Mexico has no spread to other parts of the world including the USA, Canada, Spain, New Zealand, Israel, Austria, Germany, Costa Rica and Britain (with cases found in Scotland, England and Wales) causing a stage 5 warning form the World Health Organisation. The H1N1 form of swine flu is a descendant of the Spanish flu which caused a devastating pandemic within humans in 1918–1919. The swine flu virus refers to influenza caused by any sort of the influenza virus within pigs otherwise known as swine it is very common within swine but has been very rare in human beings until the new strain of swine flu virus which has caused the 2009 outbreak. The 2009 swine flu outbreak has caused massive concern throughout the whole world although The strain in most cases only causes mild symptoms and the infected person will make a full recovery without the need for medical attention or antiviral medication . The 2009 swine flu outbreak has however taken some casualties, the Mexican government have raised the number of probable deaths caused by the H1N1 virus to nearly 160, there are also around 1,614 suspected sufferers who are under close observation. Precautions are taking place to try and limit the spead of the Mexican Swine Flu H1N1 virus as some countries are toissue warnings against travelling to and from Mexico where the virus had originated. The World Health organization and the EU's health chief, Androulla Vassiliou, has however said that such measures would do little to combat the flu's spread although they are increasing attempts to produce a vaccine against the virus. A leaflet containing information on the Swine Flu Virus will be sent to all households within the United Kingdom.
